You should too! | (Still missing: Sources for Arc 6.02 to get it to work on the | UNIX machines.) Judging from what I know about the Arc 6.02 port, it wouldn't help much to have the sources. ( I tried both colour and monochrome monitors if this makes a difference. ) The Makeicon.prg worked fine. There is a version on panarthea ( if memory serves me right ) which is supposed to be a version specifically for TOS 1.0 ROMs. However it was not uuencoded with Dumas uue and seems to have suffered some damage on its way to me, ( the icons displayed by makeicon are screwed up ). So if anyone got icone working with TOS 1.0 could they please uuencode it with Dumas uue and repost it to comp.binaries.atari.st. I can't dictate what techniques you use, and I can't repudiate existing documentation: we've guaranteed that Pexec will always start the new process at IPL 0, and therefore you are likely to get an Hblank interrupt between the RTE from GEMDOS and the first instruction of the new program. How you use this is up to you, but I warn you: the lure of the Dark Side is powerful, and once you start down that dark path the forces of Evil will claim your soul. Yes, Fdup / Fforce will gag when you get too deep, but Hblank is not the answer. If you want to link programs with temporary files, great! Add command-line options to each program in the chain which say, "Use this file for input, that one for output." I had hoped that J.Bammi could win you over to this point of view. ============================================ Opinions expressed above do not necessarily -- Allan Pratt, Atari Corp. reflect those of Atari Corp. or anyone else. ...ames!atari!apratt ------------------------------ Date: 30 Jan 90 10:54:54 GMT From: maytag!water!ljdickey@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu (L.J.Dickey) Subject: What's so good about an STE?
